Who was Adam?

Adam in the Bible. Adam was the name of the first man, his wife's name was Eve. God created man's body out of the dust of the earth, and God breathed into his body the breath of life and he became a living soul. Adam was created not born, he was created a full-grown man. Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden which was a place of paradise. When they sinned they were banished from the Garden. The Bible records that Adam was not tempted but the woman was tempted by the serpent, and once she sinned Adam also chose to sin, and to bring death into the world. Many have seen this as a representation or type of Jesus Christ who chose to die because of his love for his bride, the church. The New Testament calls Jesus the last Adam, because the first Adam through one act brought death to all mankind, and the last Adam through one act brought life to all mankind. The Bible goes on to say that Adam lived a total of 930 years and had many sons and daughters.
