Baal in the Bible.
Baal was the main diety or false god who was worshipped by the peoples
who dwelt in and around the land of ancient Israel before the Israelites
inhabited the land. Mainly the ancient Caananites, Moabites and
Phoenicians. Every sort of evil was practiced during the festivals of
Baal and his wife Ashteroth. The fire was always burning in his temples,
there were altars in his groves, and high places on the tops of houses

2 Kings 23:5 -
And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had
