Who was Abel?

Abel in the Bible.

Abel was the second son of Adam and Eve. Cain and Abel brought offerings before the Lord, Cain brought the fruit of the ground from his hard work, but Abel brought what the Lord commanded, a blood sacrifice. Abel's offering was accepted but Cain's was rejected. Later Cain became angry and rose up and killed his brother Abel. The Bible says in Hebrews 11:4 that it was because of faith that Abel was accepted and his offering was pleasing to the Lord. Abel understood that God was going to save mankind through the sacrifice of another, which was Jesus. Cain represents the futility of all those who approach God based on good works, without the blood of Christ there is no redemption of sins. Abel represents those who by faith put their trust in God's promises and receive the blessing.
